Follow these steps to sweep your chimney

Step 1

Cover the area around chimney with old newspapers to avoid dust spilling all over the kitchen. Neatly cover the chimney bottom area to avoid the double work.

Step 2

Before you head up to clean the chimney, you need to detach few of its parts. Start with fan cover oil bucket. Unscrew the fan guard net and detach the fan head. Remove the cover of the light and unscrew the lower and upper cover (Totally 6 screws).

Step 3

Next, you need to unlock the oil collection ring latch and to do so, gently pull it down and turn. Then you will have to unlock the latch and remove the oil collector ring and sludge in the oil collector ring. Finally, remove the fan and keep it aside.

Step 4

Pour kerosene oil and soak the scrubber in it to clean the fan. Use steel wool for stubborn stains and then finally wipe it with a dry cloth.

Step 5

Scrape the oil sludge with a spoon. Remove all the sludge outside and clean it with a scrubber. Gently polish the oil collector ring with a scrubber soaked in a kerosene oil. Finish this step by locking the oil collector latch

Step 6

Now, clean the fan head and re-attach it. Repeat for light cover, oil tray, and an oil bucket. Proceed with the cleaning of the lower and upper cover. Finish this step by fixing the lower cover by tightening those 6 screws.

Step 7

Quickly fasten the light cover and fix the fan cover and oil bucket. Go for a test run. With this, you are done with your chimney cleaning. Do not forget to cover the chimney top with newspaper to avoid the compilation of dust.
