The auspicious Navratri has begun and Goddess Durga is worshipped in the nine forms during these 9 days of Navratri festival. On the day 1, the goddess is adored as Shailaputri and today she takes the form of Brahmacharini.
Maa Brahmacharini is depicted with prayer beads in her right hand and Kamandala in left hand who is known to offer extreme bliss and happiness. The mythology says that Maa Parvati takes the penance to reach the ultimate power Lord Shiva and in the years of devotion she turns out to be the Tapacharini.
Brahma here refers to the meditative aspect of Brahmacharini which depicts the quality of Sanyasin. Spiritually Maa parvathi goes for the deep meditation to break the nuances of life thereby experiencing the ultimate happiness i.e., The Salvation. Mythology is just a story however spiritually we all are here to know the true meaning of our birth and the only motto is to reach the ultimate.
Due to all these reasons, the second day of Navratri is special. It is believed that worshiping Maa Brahmacharini increases sacrifice, good deeds and restraint in humans. In some regions, Goddess Chamunda is worshipped on the second day of Navratri. In this form, it is believed that Maa Durga has killed the demons Chanda and Munda.
