Google says, Science is “the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment”. An area of study or a branch of knowledge intended to a particular discipline refers to the meaning of the word ‘ Science’. So, What am I proving here? Is plumbing a Science?
Let’s assume for a while that plumbing has nothing to do with Science. Referring to Wikipedia, Plumbing is any system that conveys fluids for a wide range of applications however in laymen words, it is an activity of installing and repairing sinks, toilets, water pipes, etc. If Science connotes knowledge then the pursuit of such knowledge can be articulated to Plumbing. So, can we come to a conclusion that Plumbing is a science? If yes, read on.
If we need a consultation about our health then we approach doctors and we believe his/her method as a medical science and so goes with other disciplines of study. In the society, these professions are considered to be the noble ones because only a few can have mastery over these. Apparently, in today’s scenario, we never face any difficulty to find a doctor but we do in finding a plumber which puts forth a question to answer. If plumbing wasn’t a science or a specific discipline to master over then this question wouldn’t have risen and every home would have a plumber.
Practically be it a metro city or a Tier 2, finding a Plumber or any other Service providers for Home Maintenance is a task that takes a lot of time and effort to accomplish. When the life is going in this arena, few responsibilities accrue to respect the skill and talent which you and I don’t have. A Plumber may not have an official degree, he might not have been to a plumbing school but in the school of life, the experience is the monstrous teacher. It makes no difference having a degree or not for a plumber because in India plumbing is a hereditary art and very rarely people opts for this profession. Though it is a science of fixing the things, it may take years to accept that it is also an art and skill to be respected in the society.
‘Udta Plumber’ contemplate only one thing, Degree Ki Maa Di and nothing is afar than the talent and a sheer dedication.
