The first three characters is an alphabetic series starting from AAA to ZZZ
The fourth Character typify the status of the PAN holder
C- Company | P – Person H – HUF (Hindu Undivided Family) |F – Firm | A – Associations of Persons (AOP) T – AOP (Trust) | B – Body of Individuals (BOI) | L – Local Authority | J – Artificial Juridical Person | G – Government
The fifth character represents the surname (in case of a person) or the name of the entity ( in all other cases)
The sixth to ninth characters are consecutive numbers from 0001 to 9999
Last, the tenth character is a random number generated by applying a formula to the preceding nine characters
