Namma Bengaluru is a Home for everyone and here we see people across the country working in various fields to earn their livelihood. On the one hand, we have people working in IT, manufacturing, banking field and on the other hand, we have street sellers who sell Pani poori, Sweet corn, Fruits, Vegetables, Ice creams, Flowers, Sweets whom we never find doing any kind of marketing yet attracts 100s of people. I guess they don’t sell the things but love. Today let’s know something about Majuba Deedi, an old lady from Nepal who sells Momos on the streets of Bengaluru and her happy customer Sony.
Majuba also known as Majuba Deedi who used to sell Momos on the streets of Jayanagar, Bengaluru. The 52 years old Majuba was into this to support her family and she was doing her most favorite work i.e., to cook Momos. Momo is a Tibetan food, a steam dumpling filled with vegetables or meat. There was no single person on that street who didn’t get attracted to the smell of those yummy momos. ‘Ye dil mange more’, people exclaimed for Majubas’ Momos and she had number of happy customers and one among them was Sony.
A cute young college going girl Sony was a big fan for Majuba Deedi and every day she used to go to her to have Momos while returning to home from college. It became a habit for sony and smile was the only communication between them as both didn’t know each other’s language. But some where unknowingly they had developed a bond that was beyond business.
One particular day sony happened to take an evening walk and wanted to have momos. She went to Majuba deedi but to her surprise she saw her closing the shop too earlier than the usual time. Her son was accompanying and when enquired, he said
” I have come to take my Mother along with me and she would not be here from tomorrow”.
Sony says, ” I felt happy that Majuba Deedi will be staying with her family but on a sadder part I am definitely going to miss her”.
At the next moment, Sony thought to give her some gift before her departure and giving money didn’t seem a good thing. Immediately she went to a nearby shop and then rushed to Momo seller Majuba Deedi, hugged her with love and presented the fresh beautiful flowers as the token of respect. Majuba Deedi smilingly said and her son translates,
” You are my favourite customer all the time. Thanks for the flowers. You are like my daughter, I will miss you and God bless you, my child.”
